Handmade Scented Candles with Clean Burning Natural Soy Wax

Do you spend your nights wondering how scented candles are made? Do you regulaly overthink purchases by researching every element until Google refuses to enable you any further? Are you particulaly aware of making sure stuff you buy is sustainable and nice to planet Earth? Then my friends, this article is for you.

Today kids, we're going to talk about wax. We know, it's very exciting.

There are a ton of different options for candles when it comes to wax, and each one comes with it's own pros and cons. We would list them, but that would be boring. So we're going to focus on soy. When we started working with wax, we wanted to create candles that were cruelty free, sustainable and as natural as possible - so after a little speed dating with different types, we landed on good old fashioned pure soy wax.

Soy wax, for those of you who don't spend your day surrounded by it, is a processed form of soybean oil and is vegan friendly. But don't eat it, it tastes gross. Lots of other companies, big and small, use different types of wax (you do you babe) and soy can definitely be a little bitch a times; but we love it anyway. And here's why:

  • Soy wax offers a cleaner burn - no toxins or pollutants to worry about, meaning it's less likely to aggravate allergies⁣ and is kinder to pets
  • It burns cooler than paraffin wax which means you get to burn your candle for longer, which hopefully is a good thing
  • Soybeans are naturally biodegradable and water soluable so it's easier to clean up spills and nicer on the environment⁣
  • Soy wax often produces a stronger scent compared to other waxes⁣ (which lets face it, is kind of the point of all this candle stuff)
  • Soy wax is considered a natural, renewable energy source - which is just lovely

Our scented candles have just three elements - a load of natural soy wax, a cotton wick and specially selected, paraben free fragrance oils. We even put it all in a jar for you, because we're nice like that.
